The Tralee Community Drug Initiative
The following are the details of the CP (Concern Person) Support Group that is currently being run by the Tralee Community Drug Initiative.
Objectives
To provide a space where parents who’s children are taking drugs (or have recently stopped) can come together to identify and support one another.
To combat the stress, isolation, confusion, conflict, guilt, despair and the sense of powerlessness that is often felt by a parent when their child is taking drugs.
To provide ongoing support for the parent who has a child that is continuing to take drugs, so that they can develop better coping skills and be better prepared to help the child when (and if) they ask.
To educate the parent on drug use, drug addiction and co-dependency.
Structure
The group will meet once a week, for 1hr 30min.
The group will allow for a maximum of 12 parents.
The group will be run by Pat Hannafin and another trained facilitator.
The meetings will be held in the Tralee area.
It is a free and confidential service.
